Exciting Beginnings at Cowan Things: Prepping for Our First Paint Class and Online Store Launch

Updated: Oct 3

As the sun sets and stars begin to shine, my wife Glenda and I are full of energy and ideas. We are on the edge of a big launch—Cowan Things https://www.cowanthings.com, our online store and paint class venture. With Glenda’s love of art and my technical skills, we are working

tirelessly to prepare for our first paint class, working website store and social media platforms, and I am excited to share our story with you!

The Vision Behind Cowan Things

Cowan Things is more than just a business; it's a dream becoming reality. Glenda has always had a natural talent for creativity, and her love for crafts has inspired us to establish a space for others to explore their artistic potential. We want to create a welcoming environment for people of all skill levels to learn, create, and express themselves through art.

Alongside our paint classes, we are thrilled to offer a variety of craft items on our online store. From high-quality supplies to unique handmade goods, we want to ensure everyone has access to the tools needed to unleash their creativity.

Late Nights

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of late nights, as we both work fulltime jobs during the day, as we get ready for our launch. Glenda has been hard at work preparing materials for our first class, ensuring everything is just right for our future events.

Selecting the right paints and organizing brushes and stands is no small task. I watch her attention to detail inspire not just me but everyone who gets involved. Glenda's excitement shines through as she designs a creative atmosphere for our classes. For our first class, she plans to roll out her newest design, a tabletop stand to display the season, holiday or mood. The base stand is for sale now and Glenda is going to prepare seasonal signs and designs all through the year. See them here. https://www.cowanthings.com/product-page/post-sign-paint-class-oct-2-2025. These are for this class only but we plan on opening this up for everyone real soon. The decorations for these stands have approximately 36 different designs. We hope to offer a subscription box soon so that folks can collect the set. Coming soon.

Building the Online Presence

While Glenda focuses on the creative side, I’ve dedicated my efforts to building our website and social media platforms. It's been a fun experience, but I aim to make Cowan Things a lively online hub for Knick knack enthusiasts.

Creating a user-friendly website is crucial for our customers. I’ve spent hours designing it to reflect the warmth and creativity we want for Cowan Things. In addition to crafts, we are set to introduce 3D prints that can complement craft projects. For instance, our upcoming prints will include functional household and decorative pieces.

Besides all the usual stuff, we wanted to have a place to go give feedback and discuss projects. So we built "The Pasture". This where you can go and post your experiences with Cowan Things

Also. We added a way to help fund this startup. It is very difficult and costly to start a business. The machines and materials are very expensive so anything will help. But hey, you also get to see your name on the "Barn Door of Fame" once you contribute. And, if you go for the diamond level, we will post you on our social media platforms (if you want).

And of course our blog presence such as this one. This is our main source to communicate our offerings. Who knows, we may start a YouTube channel someday.

Craft Items for Sale

Currently, our online store features a collection of carefully curated craft items. Glenda has selected high-quality materials, unique crafting designs, and many more items to inspire your crafting journey.

We believe art should be accessible and enjoyable for everyone. That’s why our offerings cater to all skill levels and interests.

The First Paint Class

As we approach our first paint class, the enthusiasm is contagious. Glenda has crafted a curriculum that balances fun with education, focusing on techniques that help participants build confidence in painting.

We hope to create a fun atmosphere where everyone can come be themselves and collaborate. Glenda’s friendly personality and passion for teaching promise to make this a memorable experience for everyone involved. The first class will be at the Don Chilillo's Mexican Restaurant, 264 Sunset Hills Dr, Sunrise Beach, MO 65079. the class starts at 6:00 pm. Owner of Don Chilillo's, Brittini Rodriguez has allowed us to use the event space in the restaurant. Brittini has been a good friend and the whole town loves her and the restaurant.

Community Engagement

Community is at the heart of Cowan Things. We want to create a space where people can gather, connect, and inspire one another.

To foster this sense of community, we plan to host regular workshops and classes catering to various interests and skill levels. By encouraging collaboration and idea-sharing, we aim to inspire creativity among all our participants.

Looking Ahead

With our eyes set on the future, we feel a mixture of hope and excitement. Launching Cowan Things has been a challenging but rewarding journey.

We are dedicated to continuously improving our offerings and expanding our reach. With the addition of 3D prints and even more craft items on the way, we aim to become the go-to destination for anyone looking to explore their creativity.
